About This Book In this book Shaykh Abdur-Rahman bin Nasir as-Sa'di argues that Islam accommodates every beneficial modern science and achievement. Its full title is Contemporary Sciences & Achievements Are Accommodated in the Islamic Religion: Evidence from the Qur'an. He holds that modern science does more harm than good when it is cut off from religion. To see that Islam and beneficial science agree, he says, a person needs two kinds of knowledge: the teachings of the Qur'an and the Sunnah in general and in detail, and the scientific facts that fair-minded people accept. Requiring both sets the book apart from the loose "scientific miracles" writing it is often shelved beside. A reader with only religious learning tends to make claims about science he cannot support, and a reader with only scientific training tends to assume a conflict that is not there. Shaykh as-Sa'di (1307-1376 AH) was one of the leading scholars of his time and a teacher of Shaykh Muhammad ibn Salih al-'Uthaymin.
