Mary and Martha with Jesus Art Print | At His Feet

Martha welcomed Jesus into her home and served Him. Her work was good and necessary, but as the preparations multiplied, she became distracted, anxious, and frustrated with her sister. Mary sat at the feet of Jesus and listened to His teaching—the posture of a disciple. She chose to receive from Christ before doing anything for Him. The painting does not present serving is less than listening. Rather, it reflects the gentle correction Jesus gave Martha: service becomes disordered when it pulls our attention away from the One we are serving. This story offers a needed reminder for busy homes and full lives. We may be doing good things for the people God has entrusted to us, yet still become worried and distracted by many things. Jesus invites us to return to Him, listen to His Word, and remember that our work flows from being with Him. Originally hand-painted by Joy Gonzales. This meaningful piece is great for a living room, kitchen, dining room, bedroom, office, prayer room, women’s ministry space, church, or as an encouragement gift for someone carrying many responsibilities. Scripture: Luke 10:38–42
