Product Information Seed Count: ~65 seeds Botanical Name: Digitalis purpurea 'Candy Mountain Rose' Plant Type: Biennial / short-lived perennial, Zones 4–9 Plant Height: 120 cm (47") Sun Exposure: Full - part sun Frost Hardy: No Striking Tall Spires With Spotted Upwards Facing Blooms Foxglove – Candy Mountain Rose is a striking tall foxglove with unusual upward-facing rose-pink blooms that beautifully display their spotted throats. Unlike traditional foxgloves with downward-facing flowers, Candy Mountain Rose produces large, outward-facing blooms on sturdy spikes reaching approximately 47" (120 cm) tall. The rosy pink flowers feature lighter interiors freckled with darker pink and burgundy markings. Perfect for cottage gardens, perennial borders and cut flower gardens, the tall stems add dramatic height and colour to both garden beds and bouquets. Bees, butterflies and hummingbirds are also attracted to the nectar-rich flowers. Candy Mountain Rose is generally grown as a biennial or short-lived perennial and prefers fertile, moist but well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Surface sow onto moist seed-starting mix and gently press seeds into the surface. Do not cover, as foxglove seeds require light for germination. Keep moist at approximately 68°F (20°C) until germination. Transplant outdoors after the risk of hard frost has passed, spacing plants 12–18" (30–45 cm) apart. Grow in fertile, moist but well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Deadhead spent flower spikes to encourage additional flowering, or leave some spikes to mature if you would like plants to self-seed. FAQs Q: What makes Candy Mountain Rose different from other foxgloves? A: The flowers are the star of the show! Unlike traditional foxgloves with downward-facing bells, Candy Mountain Rose produces large flowers that face outward and upward, making their beautifully freckled interiors much easier to see. Q: Will Candy Mountain Rose foxglove bloom the first year? A: It can bloom in its first year when started very early indoors under favourable growing conditions, but it is a biennial and flowering in the second year is more typical. For the most reliable display, plan for plants to establish during their first season and flower the following year.
