Original pre-First World War Imperial German 7.92×57mm Mauser military cartridge, with a case manufactured in October 1910 at the Royal Ammunition Factory, Spandau, Germany. This early example features the original D / 10/ 10 / S headstamp, identifying Spandau manufacture, the production month and year, and the S-pattern cartridge case. The cartridge retains its brass case and pointed, silver-coloured projectile, with attractive age-related patina. Introduced before the First World War, the German S-pattern cartridge was used with military weapons including the Gewehr 98 rifle and MG08 machine gun.
