Forms a low, dense, compact mound or flat-growing rosette of leathery, blue-green leaves. The leafless flowering stalks rise above the foliage. Produces flat-topped flower clusters of tiny, star-shaped pink, lavender, or light purple flowers during summer (typically July and August). Highly drought-resistant and cold-hardy, generally thriving in USDA Zones 3 through 8. An excellent choice for rock gardens, dry borders, and low evergreen edging. Salt and drought tolerant. The nectar-rich blooms are highly attractive to butterflies and other beneficial garden pollinators.
