The last Sunday before Christmas at LIONS@springwood, two decades of choruses you never actually forgot, live vocals from Lotti Rem and a cobalt Greek door wrapped in bougainvillea going up on your canvas. You leave with a finished painting, a sore voice and one present you made yourself. Good to know: 18+ only. No BYO, full bar and bistro on site. Recognised as a Best of Queensland Experience every year since 2022 What this afternoon is This is not a hushed little painting workshop. This is a Paint Juicy session. Big energy, bigger music, and a room laughing at its own canvases by the second hour, five sleeps out from Christmas, when everyone has earned an afternoon off from wrapping, shopping and pretending to enjoy the carpark at the shops. Lotti Rem is on live vocals the whole way through, so the singalong has a real voice out front rather than a playlist and a hopeful nudge. Your host guides every brushstroke on the mic, so nobody gets stranded at step four. Natural breaks between layers give everyone time to grab a drink, take photos and get their breath back before the next big chorus lands. The playlist runs the pub rock and big pop of the 80s early, then slides into the 90s once the room has loosened up and the paint is flowing. Friend groups, mums and daughters, the work crew who never got around to a proper break-up, they all end up singing the same chorus by the end. Brushes down around 4pm, so you can kick on at the club or take the canvas home and still have a Sunday evening. Easy for Springwood, Underwood, Daisy Hill and Slacks Creek, and a short run from Shailer Park, Eight Mile Plains, Loganholme and Woodridge. Today's Artwork Santorini Door A whitewashed Greek hideaway with an arched cobalt door and a little brass knob, framed by bougainvillea tumbling over the top in hot pink, coral and red. A round blue vase sits on the warm stone terrace with petals scattered all around it, and just past the wall the Aegean rolls out in stripes of blue under a soft summer sky. The flowers are built from quick dabs of the brush rather than careful outlines, so it comes together far faster than it looks. It is a European summer holiday you can hang above the couch, painted in the thick of a Queensland December. Lotti Rem, live on the mic for the full session, working the 80s and 90s catalogue while you paint. Live singing, not a speaker in the corner. What are we painting? Santorini Door, an arched cobalt door on a whitewashed Greek wall, wrapped in pink and red bougainvillea with the sea behind it. If you want to tweak the colours to suit your lounge room, say so on the day and we will help you shift them, no extra charge. Is singing along optional? Technically yes. Realistically you will not resist. Expect call and response moments and choruses you forgot you knew every word to. What time does it finish? Painting starts at 1pm and runs up to 3 hours, so brushes are down around 4pm. Do I need painting experience? None at all. We guide every step from blank canvas to finished painting, and the bougainvillea is built from quick dabs rather than fiddly detail, so it is far kinder than it looks. We seat you with other friendly humans so you are part of it from the first song. Can groups who book separately sit together? Yes. LIONS@springwood has a full bar and the 5th Quarter Restaurant runs all-day dining on Sundays, so you can order food and drinks right through the session. Can we book the whole room instead? Yes.
