SHE & HIM - Volume Two (2023 reissue, Sky Blue Vinyl)

The second album by She & Him—the beloved duo formed by actress Zooey Deschanel (known for (500) Days of Summer and New Girl) and guitarist/producer M. Ward. Underpinned by a deep affection for 1950s–60s oldies and radio pop—echoing the songwriting traditions of Carole King & Gerry Goffin, Burt Bacharach & Hal David, Phil Spector, and Neil Sedaka—the album pairs a nostalgic retro sound with an uplifting, sunny feel. Combined with Zooey's charm as a modern fashion icon, it achieved a major hit, entering the US Top 6. Along with 11 original tracks penned by Zooey, the record features covers of NRBQ's "Ridin' in My Car" and Skeeter Davis's "Gonna Get Along Without You Now". Pressed on Sky Blue vinyl.
