Charlie Parker FestOriginal color illustration by Marcellus Hall published in The New Yorker’s double August 23 & 30, 1999 issue to highlight the Charlie Parker Jazz Festival in Thompkins Square Park.Ink, watercolor, and white gouache on 12” x 16.25” Strathmore 400 series drawing paper. The seated figure in the lower-left foreground is a paste-up. The artist’s signature appears in pencil at the lower right corner of the image. The reverse side references the date of creation, the date of publication, and contains Marcellus’s signature stamp and return address. The paper contains minor creases and rippling from the watercolor paint application. Overall, very good condition.
