Blood of the Maccabees

Blood of the Maccabees is a gripping historical novel set in Jerusalem during the Seleucid conquest and the Maccabean Revolt. Jason (Yehoshua), a young Jew captivated by Greek culture, has turned away from his faith and his people. But after the brutal deaths of his parents, he joins the Hasmonean struggle against the Greeks, driven by grief and a desire for revenge. As Jerusalem comes under siege, Jason’s journey leads him through war, divided loyalties, unexpected love, and ultimately back to his Jewish identity. Drawing on fifteen years of historical research, author Asaf Golan brings the turbulent world of the Maccabees vividly to life, blending real events and figures with a compelling story of young people forced to choose where they stand. A story of faith, identity, love, betrayal, and resistance, Blood of the Maccabees offers a dramatic new perspective on the events behind the story of Hanukkah.
