Nightmare on L Street

One year has passed since my very own Nightmare on L Street. L Street, Newport Beach, is the location where I had a nightmare experience. This shirt though, is a celebration that I invite you to enjoy and represents the determination needed when presented with adverse challenges at the most inconvenient of times. It was a gorgeous summer morning on Sunday 3rd August 2025. The air was crisp, the humidity MIA, and the sun was singing radiant notes of Californian hallelujahs. The stretch of beach between the “The Wedge” and Balboa Pier in Newport Beach, was like glass. A pod of Dolphins swam past, and the water was inviting. The rotation of swim, sunbake, swim was in the 5th and final session of the excursion. Duck diving through a wave did not go to plan as I was lifted by mother nature and rag dolled onto the sand, instantly snapping my leg in half. The reality that I am incredibly lucky not to have broken my neck and likely experienced an earlier than anticipated, “game over”, from life, still makes me shiver. This was three weeks before our wedding in Sydney. The good news is that it was a broken leg not a broken spirit and the wedding was amazing, even if I was on crutches and in a wheelchair for the most of it. While the time recovering was the greatest mental challenge I have faced thus far, I greeted it with a drive that resides in my soul, thriving off a tenacious attitude to recover and rebuild my mojo. This shirt is proof that something great can come to life, even when one is faced with great challenges.
