November Intermediate Handbuilding

Class outline Expand on the skills you learned in our Beginning Handbuilding class and discover what else is possible with clay. In this four-week course, students will advance their skill sets through both technical and conceptual frameworks. By learning new skills to express fresh ideas, you will be challenged to step outside of your comfort zone and engage in creating both functional and non-functional work to build a stronger individual art practice. This course is designed for students who have taken 1–2 Beginning Handbuilding classes and are looking to bridge the gap and help prepare for Studio Membership. We recommend having previous handbuilding experience before taking this class. Classes meet once a week for 2-hour sessions, with open studio time daily for you to practice on your own. Thursdays from 6:30-8:30 pm | Taught by Asa Nagao *There will be no classes or open studio held on Thursday, 11/26, in observance of Thanksgiving Day* Location 700 Livernois St Ferndale, MI, 48220 Class FAQ The course fee covers instruction, clay, tools, glazes, and firing for up to 10-12 pieces, plus open studio hours outside of class for more exploration in clay. Intermediate handbuilding students may use studio recycled clay or purchase another type of midrange clay to work with. We strongly advise you to make sure you’ll be able to attend all class sessions before signing up. We do not offer make-ups for this class. It is especially important that you attend the first class, so if you think you might have to miss week 1, please consider enrolling in another session or emailing us at hi@stilllifeceramics.com. Policies By enrolling in a class or workshop, you are acknowledging that you have read and understand the safety instructions and liability waiver. Cancellations made 4 or more days before the start of the class will be refunded. For cancellations made fewer than 4 full days, but more than 24 hours before the start time, a 50% refund or 50% credit toward another class or workshop will be issued. We cannot provide refunds or credits for cancellations or rescheduling requests made fewer than 24 hours before the start time of class, if you miss your class, or arrive too late to participate. Our classes are for adults. If you have a child under 18 interested in taking a class, please contact us before enrolling.
