A gentle, roasted tea made from the leaves of the indigo plant. Caffeine-free, for the quiet end of the day. "藍茶": indigo tea. The same plant that gives Japan its deepest blue, steeped instead for the cup. In Tokushima, once known as Awa, indigo has shaped daily life for generations. Renowned as one of Japan’s great indigo-growing regions, it’s also a place where indigo found its way onto the table. Its sprouted seeds were served alongside sashimi, and its leaves enjoyed as tempura. This caffeine-free tea carries that tradition into your cup. It’s made with 100% edible tade-ai (Japanese indigo), grown hydroponically by contract farmers in Tokushima and carefully harvested. A gentle roasting process softens indigo’s natural bitterness and grassy notes, leaving a smooth, easy-to-drink flavour. How to Drink it Hot Place one tea bag in 500ml of water and bring it to the boil, then enjoy. To brew in a teapot, pour freshly boiled water over the tea bag and wait about 3 minutes. Iced Boil the tea as above, then remove the tea bag. Let it cool, then chill it in the fridge before serving. Details Ingredients: Japanese indigo (tade-ai), 100% grown in Tokushima Caffeine: Caffeine-free Contents: [5g × 5 tea bags] Country of origin: Japan Notes Best enjoyed soon after opening. As this tea uses natural ingredients, its colour may vary slightly from batch to batch. This does not affect quality. In rare cases, it may not suit everyone. If so, please stop drinking it. Keep out of reach of young children, and take care when using boiling water.
