Houston Sommelier Association: Poggerino Masterclass with Piero Lanza, November 2026

HSA: Poggerino Wines Five Wines, One Hillside, All Sangiovese: A Master Class with Piero Lanza of Poggerino Join Piero Lanza, owner and winemaker of Poggerino in Radda in Chianti, for a guided tasting that isolates what shapes Sangiovese. Starting with a traditional-method Sangiovese rosé, the class moves through two side-by-side comparisons. The first pits large oak against a cement egg, with the same grape, hillside and native yeasts. The second tastes the single-vineyard Riserva "Vigna Bugialla" from two consecutive vintages, made the same way. Piero will lead the discussion of farming, vessel and vintage in Radda. The Houston Sommelier Association is an association designed to offer members of the trade a chance to learn from guest speakers as well as network and learn from each other.(Non-trade members are asked to make a donation of $20 to the program.)
