Ghost Rock Estate Pinot Meunier 2025
Ghost Rock Estate "Pinot Meunier" 2025 Pinot Noir's easygoing cousin, grown on a Tasmanian coast nobody planted until the Arnold family did. Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Pinot Meunier from Ghost Rock's estate on Tasmania's Cradle Coast, a cool maritime pocket overlooking Bass Strait. The Arnold family set up here in 2001 on a run-down property with a few vines and went on to pioneer the whole region, building its first winery. Meunier is one of the minor varieties in the roughly 26 hectare vineyard, where Pinot Noir leads. Most people know Meunier as a Champagne blending grape, but bottled solo it turns pale, juicy and gulpable, which is exactly why it deserves more love. Taste Profile: Pale, light red-rose in colour. Juicy red berry fruit, lifted by bright acidity and a mineral streak, with spice and herbal savoury notes adding layers. Fresh, easy drinking at 13.5%. Serve with a slight chill alongside roast chicken, charcuterie or mushroom pasta. Winemaking Process: Ghost Rock's estate wines are made with a light touch, with the aim of letting fruit and site do the talking. Everything is grown, made and bottled on the property. Winemaker: Sierra Blair grew up in a family of California grape growers, studied viticulture and oenology at UC Davis, worked vintages in California, France, New Zealand and Australia, then fell for Tasmania. She has made the wines at Ghost Rock since 2019, working alongside owner Justin Arnold, who took over the family business with his wife Alicia in 2017. Her aim: people should "taste what these varieties taste like on our dirt".
