Pottery Hand Building | Ceramic Buttons - July 25th (Saturday) 6pm-8pm
In this one-off class, you'll hand-build a pair of ceramic bookends. What you'll learn You'll learn the basics of hand-building, including how to condition clay, roll and cut consistent shapes, and punch clean holes that will hold up through the kiln. Your instructor will guide you through forming your buttons, adding texture, pattern, or surface detail, and making sure each one is the right thickness to fire and function well. You'll also learn how different surface treatments affect the finished look of your pieces. What's included All clay and tools are included. Once your pieces have been fired, you're invited to our monthly group glazing session to finish and personalize your bookends. You'll be notified when your glazed pieces are ready for pickup, or you can arrange shipping during class. Who this is for Anyone who wants to make something functional and handmade in an afternoon. No sculpting or pottery experience required. Perfect for knitters, crocheter, and other fiber arts enthusiasts. What to Wear Wear clothing and shoes you're comfortable getting clay and water on. Aprons are provided, but clay has a way of finding everything anyway.
