Silver hammered ring with stunning iolite set in gold
This stone was never going to be one that quietly blended in. A broad silver band 8mm wide with a heavily dappled hammered texture, topped with a striking 6mm iolite cabochon set in 9ct gold. Depending on the light, the stone shifts from deep midnight blue to flashes of violet. It’s one of those gemstones that changes personality throughout the day and completely catches you off guard when the light hits it just right. The setting sits proud and high on the ring because this stone deserved to be noticed. Bold, weighty and unapologetically eye-catching. This ring is currently a size Q but can be made to order in any size. This piece is part of my 52 Ring Project, a personal challenge inspired by rediscovering a long-forgotten collection of gemstones. After moving to Dorset, I unpacked two boxes of stones that had remained untouched for several years — some of which I have owned for over fifteen years. After carefully sorting and organising them by type, size and colour, I decided to bring them back into use by creating one ring each week over the course of a year. Each ring in the collection is made using a different gemstone, giving every piece its own character and story.
