Supply List Medium: Applicable to artists working in all mediums Level: All levels welcome Class Dates: Wednesdays, July 8 & 15, 2026 Class Times: • 11:00 am-1:30 pm Pacific time • 2:00 pm-4:30 pm Eastern time • 7:00 pm-9:30 pm UK time This class is a quick dive into the innovative ways Pierre Bonnard (1867 – 1947) used color in his bold and imaginative paintings. You will work in sketchbooks with mixed media from sketches and memory, just as Bonnard did. Making sketchbook studies is a great way to explore color for all painters of any medium. Pierre Bonnard’s paintings of interiors and gardens with figures (and sometimes animals) come alive with color vibrations. His colors are not the local colors he would have seen in nature, rather his effervescent colors are used to organize the composition and elicit sensations of wonder and intimacy. The primary focus for this course is to explore the surprising ways Bonnard organized space with color and discover how his color interactions amplify our experience color which so effectively captures our imagination. Note: This course is a prelude to my exciting upcoming series of three courses titled: Explore Color, Painter by Painter. This unique series of courses begins August 5th. Experience how painters through the ages have used color in their unique ways, painter by painter!
