2004 Vintage Haiwan Ripe Pu-erh Fang Zhuan Square Brick
22-Year Aged Ripe Pu-erh Brick Haiwan Tea Company | Exceptional Dry Storage Haiwan Tea Company, also known as Lao Tong Zi, began producing Fang Zhuan brick tea in 2004 under the Haiwan name. Early productions — especially the inaugural 2004 batch — are highly prized by experienced tea drinkers for their depth and taste. Even the 2005 production shows a noticeable difference in taste. In today’s market, many so-called “aged” Pu-erh teas suffer from improper wet storage, muddiness, or unpleasant odors. True aged tea requires both quality raw materials and careful preservation. Well-stored examples like this are increasingly rare. This brick stands apart. Expertly stored and aged, this brick is clean, deeply matured, and beautifully balanced. A refined, honest example of well-aged shu Pu-erh — smooth, comforting, gentle on the stomach, and exceptionally satisfying. The liquor is rich reddish-brown, with a silky, oily in soup texture, and subtle fruit notes that lead to a lingering natural sweetness. The wet leaves are soft and resilient, free of mustiness or burnt aroma — a true testament to well aged tea. The brick is firmly compressed; please pry carefully when opening. Some tea dust is normal when breaking apart tightly pressed bricks. We recommend using a clay teapot to fully appreciate its depth and texture.
