An exploration of events leading up to the American War of Independence, and its aftermath. With contributions from several leading historians, who offer new perspectives on the contributions of British revolutionary thinkers such as Thomas Paine and the influence of British law on the founding father of America. The book will also delve into the role of women fighting for equal rights in democratic thought, and the influx of a large number of African-American, formerly enslaved people who arrived in Britain in the aftermath of the war.
