Kimono dress gown and string belt upcycled from Genuine vintage Japanese kimono This dress gown is made of a vintage silk kimono. This is originally a kimono for men. It used to be worn as the first formal kimono for Japanese men. I would suggest a style that is unisex and casual wear.
A beautiful antique silk black kimono is worn as a robe. The name of the fabric is 羽二重 Habutae. I want to propose a style in which a vintage kimono is worn like a beautiful coat. I and the sewing team upcycled this kimono piece. This mark is called KAMON and is the emblem representing the family.
In the old days, only a few people of high status were allowed to have KAMON, but in the Meiji era (1868-1912), ordinary people were allowed to have KAMON. This haori family crest is called 「丸に梅鉢 maru-ni-umebachi」The plum tree has long been cherished by the Japanese people for its elegant form and fragrant white blossoms that bloom beautifully in early spring. *Please understand that there may be stains and slight damage common in vintage fabrics as all of our clothes are made by either partial or full disassembly of the original kimono.
