2020 Karim Vionnet Fleurie

Place: Fleurie - Beaujolais, France Variety: Gamay Farming: Organic Born to Algerian parents, Karim was adopted as a child by the Vionnets in Morgon. He has worked with the region’s greats—Lapierre, Breton, Foillard—as a vineyard- and cellar-hand, as well as assistant winemaker. He alongside his daughter Noemie now farm 5ha across Beaujolais-Villages, Chiroubles, Chenas and Fleurie. His Fleurie is one of the more refined expressions in the range, with a touch of old oak adding shape without weight. The 2020 is bright yet quietly structured—red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry layered with rose, soft spice and a gentle earthy edge. The palate is supple but finely tuned, with fresh acidity, silky tannins and a long, lifted finish. Elegant, perfumed and just a little more serious beneath the surface.
