Living Lineage Risograph Print
This design is inspired by how teachings live on through a succession of relationships. In November of 2024, my teacher's teacher and the holder of the Ashtanga Yoga lineage passed away very unexpectedly. We held a memorial at our Shala and everyone (everyone) brought flowers. Especially lilies. The entire space was full of beauty, fragrance, and tender heartedness. I plucked and saved one of the lily flowers and pressed it in my flower press. Later in the year, I layered it on top of paper to create an image translated with blue ink in my Risograph. I love that it looks like a lotus! Then, I added another printed layer of a gold circle. The circle reminds me of wholeness, and an essence being carried and held in fullness through the coming and going of all that is temporary. As this print was created with fully analog methods by scanning the elements (see photo) and therefore is a limited edition. Read more about the yoga studies collection in the blog post here.
