12" Hacksaw for Stone Carving
Cut away exes stone quickly with this compact hacksaw, a favourite first step for carvers working from a raw block. Soapstone and alabaster are soft enough to saw by hand, so instead of slowly rasping down a corner you can simply cut it off—squaring up a block, splitting it into smaller pieces, or slicing straight into negative space to separate the shapes in your design. Follow up with rasps and files to refine the form. Details: Measures approx. 12" x 6" (310 x 150 mm) Wing-nut tensioners at both ends let you tighten the blade for straight, accurate cuts Blade can be rotated or swapped as it wears Deep frame gives clearance for cutting into a block, not just across an edge Turned wooden handle for a comfortable two-handed grip The 12" length is easy to control on smaller work while still cutting a full stroke through a larger block. Pairs perfectly with our premium soapstone blocks and 8" 3 piece rasp set.
