More about Larissa Grass A native of Long Island, my passion for the fine arts started at a very young age. I received a portfolio scholarship to attend Tyler School of Art, Temple University, Philadelphia, where I obtained my B.F.A. in Printmaking. Tyler gave me an opportunity to travel to Rome where I studied with master printmakers exploring modern and ancient printing techniques. It was there that I fell in love with the medium. I am moved by the process of printmaking, finding a true passion for creating the matrix. Carving, scraping, burning and preparing a printing plate fuels my work. I see the plate as its own sculptural entity. The work I create is inspired by the patterns, textures and forms I notice in nature. Most importantly I am excited by color. It’s thrilling to see it spread across a surface, mix with another color or complement it. The images I use are taken from my interactions with nature. When I meet a creature or come across a botanical it’s my goal to record that moment.
