Unilin 100mm XPS 300 Extruded Polystyrene Insulation Board is a rigid closed-cell XPS board built for applications where high compressive loading is part of the brief. It is specified in commercial, industrial and cold storage areas subject to vehicular traffic and point loading, and in basement floor, basement wall and inverted flat roof build-ups where the insulation sits in a wet or below-ground environment. Each board measures 1250mm x 600mm x 100mm and gives 0.75m² of coverage, supplied four boards to a pack for 3.00m² per pack. Packs are stacked twelve to a pallet, giving 36.00m² per pallet and a board weight of approximately 3kg, so a full pack lifts comfortably by hand on site. The declared thermal conductivity at 100mm is 0.033 W/mK, giving a thermal resistance of 2.75 m²K/W, and compressive strength is rated at 300 kPa at 10% compression to EN 826:2013. The rebated edge profile runs on all four sides of the board. Across a large floor plate this matters more than it sounds: rebated joints overlap rather than butt, closing off the straight-through gaps that square-edged boards leave and helping to limit thermal bridging along every joint line in the layer. Closed-cell extruded polystyrene also brings water performance that open-cell and faced boards cannot match, with long-term water absorption by total immersion classified WL(T)0,7, absorption by diffusion at WD(V)1 for the 100–300mm thickness band, and freeze-thaw resistance classified FTCD1. That combination is what allows the board to be used below the waterproofing layer in an inverted roof and below ground in basement construction without progressive loss of thermal performance. In use, 100mm XPS 300 is laid over a suitably prepared and level substrate in solid ground floor, basement and inverted roof build-ups, and should be installed in line with the latest Unilin Insulation technical guidance, the project specification and the relevant building regulations. Boards cut cleanly with a fine-toothed saw or sharp knife and can be worked in cold or wet weather without deterioration, which keeps programme moving on winter groundworks. Where the board sits under a screed or slab, the specifier should confirm the loading regime, damp proof membrane position and any separating layer required by the design. Compressive creep is declared CC(2/1,5/50)130 across the 60–120mm band, giving the design team a stated long-term deformation figure to work to rather than a headline short-term number alone. XPS 300 carries no fire resistance rating and must be assessed within the overall build-up against the relevant fire strategy. This is a load-bearing insulation, not a lightweight filler. The 300 kPa rating is the entry grade in the Unilin XPS family, which also runs to 500 kPa and 700 kPa where slab loading demands more. The board has no facings. There is no foil, no fleece and no vapour control layer built in. Any VCL or damp proof membrane required by the design is a separate specified layer. Thickness tolerance at 100mm is +3/-2mm to EN 823:2013, class T1. The 100mm board is a stock thickness. Within the XPS 300 range, 40mm, 140mm and 160mm are subject to quantity and lead time.
