19th Century German Renaissance Revival Burl Walnut Marble Top Cabinet

An exceptional late 19th-century German Renaissance Revival cabinet, circa 1880–1900, showcasing richly figured burl walnut veneers, elaborate carved detailing, and a white marble top. The cabinet features a striking pair of bookmatched burl walnut door panels with dramatic, nearly mirrored figuring. Architectural molded surrounds frame each panel, while carved corner embellishments, substantial moldings, a central circular medallion, and carved feet give the piece the commanding character associated with German Renaissance Revival and Gründerzeit furniture of the period. Of particular interest is an antique paper label preserved on the underside of the marble top. The surviving label references Berlin-Wilmersdorf and Wilhelmsaue 30, providing an intriguing connection to early German provenance. The label appears to be an early inventory, dealer, or warehouse label rather than a manufacturer’s mark. Beautifully proportioned and highly decorative, this cabinet offers both substantial storage and remarkable visual presence. Its combination of dramatic burl walnut, intricate carving, and contrasting marble makes it equally compelling as an entry cabinet, bar cabinet, storage cabinet, or statement piece in a living or dining space. A distinctive example of late 19th-century Continental craftsmanship with exceptional wood figuring and documented Berlin-associated provenance.
