Despite spending years drawing cartoons for Playboy magazine, Kliban is more often remembered for his charming cat drawings, which were first published in a 1975 book titled Cat. His cat illustrations were later printed onto a myriad of merchandise, including a series of t-shirts printed by the Hawaiian-based graphic tee company, Crazy Shirts. A pioneer of the graphic tee industry, Crazy Shirts was started by Rick Ralston, and the company originated as just a small shop at the International Market Place in Waikiki.
