Japanese windflower (Anemone tomentosa) is a vigorous, freely flowering perennial that lights up the late summer or fall garden. There are many hybrids and named varieties on the market; this is the straight species, which blooms just a bit earlier than many of the hybrids. Very easy to grow on humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil in full sun or part shade. Plants will quickly colonize when happy.
