Spawn Alaskan Intruder Shanks

Developed in collaboration with Shane Woodworth, who we consider a master fly tier and Alaska-based angler who ties thousands of flies each year for premier lodges across the state, these shanks were engineered to meet the demands of Alaska's toughest fisheries. Shane's expertise guided every step of the design process. We refined many separate prototypes before arriving at the final version, with each variation tested at the vise to ensure every detail served a purpose. The result is a shank that embodies Alaska fly tying: precision engineering paired with practical, fish-driven design. Built from 1.2mm stainless steel wire, these shanks are designed to withstand the largest and hardest-fighting species. The extended return arm creates a stable platform for oversized dumbbell eyes, making it easier, faster and more secure while creating your favorite patterns. The eye angle, overall proportions, taper and every bend in the shank were intentionally engineered to maximize strength, balance, and tying efficiency. Every aspect of this design has a purpose.
