Jean BESNARD (1889-1958). Circular plate with marli wings and base with scratched floral decoration on water green ground. Signed on the reverse and annotated. While the signature suggests 1957 he was living in a nursing home for artists at that time and suffering from throat Cancer and not a prolific potter at that time. This fact combined with the fact that this glazing technique and color used was favored by him in the late 30's suggests that it is earlier than the year on the plate would suggest. Circa: 1930s Diameter 10 1/4
