Garmin Approach Z10 Golf Laser Rangefinder
Skip to main content Garmin Approach® Z10 Golf Laser Rangefinder — Compact 350-Yard Laser with Range Relay & PlaysLike Distance The Approach Z10 is Garmin’s compact, connected laser rangefinder: 350-yard range, 6X magnification, sub-second lock with vibration feedback, and accuracy within one yard. Weighing under 7 ounces with up to a year of battery life, it sends every ranged distance straight to your Garmin watch, handheld or the Garmin Golf™ app. Our Take: The Z10 is the first Garmin laser we would hand to a golfer who already owns an Approach watch and doesn’t want to spend $500 to make it smarter. You get the connected features that actually change club selection — Range Relay, dynamic distance, front and back of green — in a body that fits a jacket pocket, for $200 less than the Z30. The trade is 50 yards of reach and no image stabilization. For 95% of approach shots, neither matters. 350-yard rangeRanges the pin from up to 350 yards. Plenty for every approach and most par-3 tee shots; only long par-4 tee boxes push past it. 6X magnificationSix-times optical magnification through the viewfinder — the same magnification used on the Z30 and Z82. Sub-second lockLocks the flag in under a second and buzzes so you know it caught the pin, not the tree line behind it. Range RelaySends the ranged yardage to a paired Garmin watch, handheld or the Garmin Golf app and draws a laser range arc across the course map. PlaysLike DistanceAdjusts the raw yardage for uphill and downhill elevation change and shows the playing number right in the viewfinder. Tournament modeExternal indicator light shows partners and officials that slope compensation is switched off and the device is conforming. Under 7 ozLighter and smaller than most smartphones, so it rides in a pocket instead of hanging off the bag. 1-year batteryUp to a full season of play on one replaceable CR2 cell. No charging cable, no dead unit on the first tee. Who this rangefinder is perfect for Golfers who already own an Approach S44, S50 or S70 and want laser precision fed into the watch they already wear. Players stepping up from a GPS-only device who want a true laser without a $500 outlay. Walkers and carry-bag players who care about pocket size and weight. Anyone who hates charging gear — one CR2 battery lasts about a season. Club and league competitors who need a visible tournament-mode indicator. You may prefer a different Garmin if… You want to range past 350 yards — step up to the Approach Z30 at 400 yards. You want image stabilization, on-lens 2-D course mapping, hazard view and wind data — that is the Approach Z82. You only want yardages to front, middle and back with no laser at all — the Approach G12 is the budget clip-on. You want automatic shot and club tracking — add Approach CT1 tags to any of the above. Feature Highlights What Range Relay actually does Most lasers give you one number and stop. Range Relay takes the yardage you just shot and pushes it to your paired Garmin watch, handheld or the Garmin Golf app, then draws a laser range arc across the course map at that exact distance. In one glance you see the bunker, the creek and the false front that all sit on the same line. Ranged distances also stay dynamic — as you walk toward the target, the synced number updates, so you don’t need to re-range before each shot. Ranging and optics 6X magnification, 350-yard maximum range to the flag, and ranged distances accurate to within one yard. Lock time is under one second, with vibration feedback confirming the pin rather than background scenery. When paired to a compatible Garmin device, the viewfinder also shows distance to the front and back of the green relative to the pin. PlaysLike Distance and elevation PlaysLike Distance adjusts the raw yardage for uphill and downhill shots based on the elevation change from where you are standing, and displays the adjusted number directly in the viewfinder. Switch it off and turn on tournament mode when you play in competition. Tournament mode and rules conformance An external indicator light on the housing shows playing partners and officials that the device is providing conforming data only. The light can be turned on and off. Rules on distance-measuring devices vary by competition, so confirm with your committee before play. Cart mount, case and Find My Rangefinder A magnetic mount is built into the housing so the Z10 sticks to the cart frame for quick grab-and-range. A carry case with a carabiner clip is included for walkers. If you leave it on the course, Find My Rangefinder shows the last known location in the Garmin Golf app. Garmin Golf app and optional membership Every rangefinder function works free of charge. An optional Garmin Golf membership adds Green Contour Data — slope direction on the putting surface for select courses — plus high-resolution aerial imagery across more than 43,000 courses worldwide. Membership is not required to use the Z10. Frequently Asked Questions How far can the Approach Z10 range?Up to 350 yards to the pin, with ranged distances accurate to within one yard. The Z30 extends that to 400 yards and the Z82 to 450 yards if you regularly need to range beyond a driver. Is the Approach Z10 legal for tournament play?Yes. The Z10 has a tournament mode with an external indicator light so playing partners and officials can see the device is only providing conforming data. Always confirm the rules of your specific competition before teeing off. Do I need a Garmin watch to use the Z10?No. The Z10 works as a standalone laser rangefinder out of the box. Pairing it with a compatible Garmin golf watch, handheld or the Garmin Golf smartphone app unlocks Range Relay, front and back of green distances, dynamic distance and Find My Rangefinder. What is Range Relay?Range Relay pushes the distance you just lasered to your paired Garmin device, drawing a laser range arc on the course map so you can see every hazard and layup that sits at that same yardage. What battery does the Approach Z10 use?A single replaceable CR2 battery, included in the box, which delivers up to one year of play. There is nothing to recharge between rounds. Does the Z10 need a Garmin Golf membership? No. Every rangefinder feature works without a subscription. A Garmin Golf membership is optional and adds Green Contour Data and aerial course imagery inside the app. How does the Z10 compare to the Approach Z30?Both share Range Relay, PlaysLike Distance, tournament mode and a magnetic cart mount. The Z30 ranges 50 yards farther at 400 yards; the Z10 is the smaller, lighter and lower priced option at 350 yards. Questions before you buy?
