Cotton Fields

Cotton Fields is an original framed textile artwork created through a carefully developed process combining painting, photography, digital design and machine embroidery. The piece begins as a hand-painted picture, allowing the colours, atmosphere and composition of the landscape to be developed freely. The finished painting is then photographed and digitised before being converted into an embroidery design. Each area is translated into stitch and carefully prepared for the embroidery machine, where thousands of stitches build the final image in thread. Soft blues, silvery whites and darker shadowed tones create the impression of cotton fields stretching into the distance. Dense stitched textures in the foreground contrast with the lighter, more open areas beyond, giving the artwork depth, movement and a strong sense of landscape.
