Malinga - Rotburger 2022

(Kamptal, Austria) 1005% Rotburger (otherwise known as Zweigelt). A light and crunchy red wine, juicy dark fruits with a hint of spice and tannins, and amazing structure and length on the finish. Christophe was inspired by a trip to Beaujolais where he saw the affinity between Gamay and Rotburger, informing his winemaking to give the variety a bit more complexity and composure. Made by Christoph Heiss, a young producer who has recently taken over his family's winery in Engabrunn, Kamptal, and is producing some of the most exciting wines in Austria today. We've been delighted to see Christoph's project continuing to grow, and see that each year he is able to make such pure wines showing astonishing maturity.
