Roberto Grande
Slovenian whisky? Another country to tick off on your list of whisky discoveries! Broken Bones is a craft distillery founded in 2016, producing whisky and gin. They use local barley and alpine-pure mineral-rich water, and run long fermentations with several types of yeast for over 110 hours. That’s plenty of time for the kinds of additional complexity and fruity esters that flavour-led distillers crave. While their single malts are released under the Broken Bones name, this adaptable blended whisky is dubbed ‘Roberto Grande’. It brings together their classic/signature ‘Twis’ style of their Broken Bones single malt (fruity and robust with a just a hint of smoke - as opposed to their more peated ‘Kika’ style) with specially selected ‘lively’ grain whisky for a harmonious blend matured in a combination of Slovenian sessile oak ex-brandy casks and American oak bourbon casks.
