We're honored to continue roasting coffees from Finca Lote 3 and to support the next generation carrying Miller's vision forward. BEAN DETAILS: ORIGIN: santa maria, huila, colombia PRODUCER: Miller Sarmiento VARIETY: PINK BOURBON + ORANGE CATURRA ELEVATION: 2100 masl PROCESS: Fully washed and Dried on Raised Beds TASTING NOTES: pink fleshed apple, plum and panela ROAST TYPE: Light Farm Level Finca Lote 3 is located in Santa María, Huila, Colombia, at approximately 1,952 meters above sea level. The farm spans 8 hectares, with 4 hectares planted in coffee and roughly 14,000 trees in production. For years, the farm was lovingly stewarded by Miller Sarmiento, one of the most thoughtful producers we had the privilege of working with. Miller was deeply committed to regenerative agriculture, attending workshops to produce his own organic fertilizers, planting native shade trees, and protecting a one-hectare natural forest reserve that supplies fresh water to six neighboring families. He was one of only two siblings in his family of eighteen to remain in coffee, and the only one dedicated to specialty coffee and experimental fermentation with guidance from The Coffee Quest. Sadly, Miller passed away, and this lot marks the first harvest produced under the leadership of his son, who has stepped forward to continue the work his father began. It represents not only another exceptional coffee from Lote 3, but the continuation of a legacy built through years of care, curiosity, and commitment to quality. Miller and his wife, Johany, had lived on the farm for nearly two decades after inheriting it from her father, building both their home and their livelihood through coffee. Their family has long believed that healthy ecosystems and great coffee go hand in hand, gradually transitioning the farm toward organic production while participating in The Coffee Quest's Producers del Futuro initiative in partnership with Colombia's National Natural Parks.
