Introduction to Oil Painting with Simon Young – 9th October 2026

Based in North Cornwall, Simon Young studied Art at St Martin’s School of Art in London and has spent a lifetime exploring some of Britain’s most dramatic landscapes. During the day Simon will cover your working environment, including materials, light conditions and understanding the oil medium. Making and understanding initial sketching, composition and the Lean to fat principle when building layers of colour. Colour, mixing colour and the use of opaque and transparent colours. The remainder of the day will be spent painting, during this time Simon will support and guide you in your work.
