Chateau Lacoste Borie Pauillac Red 2017
Grape 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc. Tasting notes Garnet-purple in the glass, this Lacoste-Borie shows blackcurrant, morello cherry and blueberry fruit lifted by pencil-lead and bay-leaf notes typical of the appellation. The 2017 vintage, marked by frost-reduced yields and a cooler ripening window, gives an elegant, fresh style rather than a blockbuster one, with juicy red and black fruit, real density for a second wine, and the fine-grained, slightly firm tannic backbone characteristic of Pauillac. More About The Winery Lacoste-Borie is the second wine of Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste, a Fifth Growth (5eme Cru Classe) Pauillac estate that has belonged to the Borie family since 1978 and is widely regarded as one of the appellation's most reliable, true-to-type names. Created in 1983, Lacoste-Borie allows the estate to declassify younger-vine parcels so that the grand vin can be built from its oldest vines, while still delivering classic Pauillac character - cassis, graphite and firm structure - at an earlier-drinking, more accessible price point.
