One edge of the leather is turned under the other and stitched so that a single clean line remains on the exterior. The turn is made by hand. The stitch is set on a Singer 46K, a machine designed solely for this construction and no longer produced. This is the traditional seam used on fine dress gloves. It is slower and more refined than a standard outseam, leaving a clean turned edge that maintains its line for years. Table Cutting The leather is stretched by hand until its yield is understood. A master cutter then reads the grain, weight, and character of the hide before placing the pattern and cutting each piece by hand on the table. No dies are used.
