2018 Howard's Icewine Vidal 200ml (New Release)

The 2018 Howard's Icewine Vidal is named in honour of Sue-Ann's father, Howard Victor Staff. Howard Staff was as committed to family, farming and community as his ancestors. He was a staunch supporter of Sue-Ann's career, relishing her success. He loved all her wines, but particularly relished Sue-Ann's Icewines. Gold — International Wine Challenge 2022 Silver — International Wine & Spirits Competition 2020 Silver — Finger Lakes International Wine Competition 2022 Bronze — Decanter World Wine Awards 2022 Tasting notes: Vibrant fruit notes resonate throughout this wine, accompanied by gorgeous minerality that threads its way through the palate and finish. Look for candied lemon peel, orange marmalade, and peach jam with wet stone and balancing acidity. A lengthy, seductive finish persists. Vineyard: Harvested exclusively from the winery estate in Jordan, ON in the Niagara Peninsula. Grown on clay soil with limestone rock base. 2018 was a warm vintage overall, which allowed the Vidal to ripen fully and develop the intense flavours typical of the variety. Vinification: Pressed at -11°C yielding a low quantity of juice per tonne at 38.8° Brix. Cool fermented in stainless steel over 3 months with selected yeast. Sterile filtered with no additions or fining required.
