Teacup 001 | Louis Reilly

These cups were thrown on a potter’s wheel one at a time by Lees Summit-based studio potter, Louis Reilly. The coarse, iron-rich stoneware clay is visible on the bottom third of the piece. A tea dust glaze was made using naturally occurring domestic materials and wood ash from a wood fired pizza oven. The green-yellow tea dust specs are crystals that grow on the surface of the piece during cooling. 80-100 milliliters | 2.5" h x 2.75" w (Each cup is made by hand, sizes will slightly vary) The cup is dishwasher, microwave safe, and lead-free. Louis' work can be found in collections and galleries around the world. In addition to working as a potter, Louis is Director of KC Clay Guild, a non-profit community focused ceramic art center in Kansas City.
