Jocelyn Lewis (Jo Lewis), a Detroit native and graduate of Renaissance High School. Jocelyn, a former art teacher pursuing an advanced degree in the field, crafted her design from construction paper, a throwback to her time teaching children. She’s “usually a mixed-media artist,” combining paint, fabric, paper and other materials into her creations. “I’ve never done a project like this before,” Lewis said. “It’s Detroit-centered, and I knew I could come up with something very cool for it. My process was more thinking what jazz would feel and look like to me.
