Length Gauges
A length gauge is a precision measuring device built around a ball-bearing-guided, zero-backlash plunger connected to an internal scale read via photoelectric scanning. Spring-tensioned and extended at rest, the plunger makes direct contact with the workpiece surface to deliver an extremely accurate position reading, a standard solution for stand-alone measuring stations and laboratory quality control. Key Advantages • Extremely high system accuracy — down to approx. ±0.2 µm in premium models (MT 1200 / MT 2500) • High accuracy even over long measuring lengths — down to approx. ±0.5 µm (MT 60 / MT 101) • Ball-bearing-guided, zero-backlash plunger for maximum measuring repeatability • Very low gauging force variants (down to approx. 0.01 N) to protect delicate parts • Motorized versions (MT 60M / MT 101M) maintain constant gauging force across the full measuring range • Bidirectional EnDat 2.2 interface on select models Main Applications Stand-alone measuring stations and quality-control laboratories, incoming inspection, production monitoring, and quality control across parts of widely varying dimensions. Thanks to their high accuracy, length gauges are also used as precision position encoders — for example on sliding devices and X-Y tables.
