Antique Pair of Victorian Wooden Hand Held Fireplace Face Screens c.1880 Late 19th Century A lovely decorative pair of Victorian hand-held fireplace face screens. Beautifully crafted from wood and decorated with intricate floral detailing and nature scenes, these screens were traditionally used to shield the face from an open fire to protect your makeup from burning your face. Each screen is richly decorated on both sides with vibrant bouquets of flowers surrounding a centre image. On one side of each fan is a scene showing a man and woman in traditional clothing, capturing the romantic and decorative style of the Victorian era. The other side showcase different bird and nature scenes. The screens are held with the wooden turned handles which have ben decorated in a golden colour to compliment the screens. The neutral, earthy colours mixed with vibrant florals give them an eye-catching and highly decorative finish. Displaying wonderful colour and detail, these face screens are wonderful decorative pieces and would look great decorating a fireplace, dressing room or country house interior. They would also be a great addition to any collection of other fire screens or other ornate Victorian items. Dimensions: 23cm x 37.4cm Condition: Good order with minor age and use related wear.
