This page is a Performance Optimized enclosure. The airspace, the cutout and the cabinet height all come from the Kicker L7T 10's own published numbers. A Performance box fits your subwoofer. A Square Hole, Cut For a Square Cone The Solo-Baric L7T is a square subwoofer, and the baffle on this cabinet is machined with a 9 5/16 inch square cutout to match. Not a round hole that a square driver sits over. The corners are cut to Kicker's own published CNC template. The square format is the entire point of the Solo-Baric line. A square cone fits 20 percent more radiating area into the same nominal diameter than a round one, and the L7T 10 measures 432.64 cm² of piston area against roughly 340 to 350 for a typical round 10. That is close to a round 11 inch driver's cone in a 10 inch footprint. Kicker gets there with a SoloKon injection-molded polypropylene cone with 360 degree back bracing as a single solid unit, a high-roll Santoprene surround with patented ribbed corners so the square perimeter can move without binding, and the cone stitched to the surround. A UniPlate solid pole piece and backplate handles heat, and a bumped top plate makes room for 14.2mm of excursion in a 3 3/4 inch mounting depth. Net Volume, Not Gross This cabinet is built at 0.60 cubic feet net, from 0.67 gross. Kicker publishes a sealed range of 0.4 minimum to 1.0 maximum for the L7T 10, so this sits near the middle of their own window. The volume came from the driver rather than from preference. At a 3 3/4 inch mounting depth, and after the flush recess baffle, the milled relief and clearance behind the motor, the minimum internal height is 3.125 inches. On the 30 by 15 inch platform that is 0.67 gross. Going bigger buys nothing here. At 0.60 net this driver produces an F3 of 51.3 Hz. At 0.80 net it produces 51.3 Hz. The corner frequency drops but the rolloff shape changes to compensate, so extension is flat across the range. The smallest volume the driver allows is also the best one, which is why this cabinet is 5.375 inches tall instead of 6.5. That lands at Qtc 0.746, four hundredths above the textbook maximally flat reference of 0.707. Clean, controlled, no overhang, and a gentle rolloff that integrates with cabin gain. One note on honesty: Kicker does not publish a driver displacement figure for the L7T anywhere in their spec sheet, T/S data or dimension drawings. The 0.07 cubic feet used in the net calculation is our own estimate from the square cutout and mounting depth. If Kicker publishes a figure later we will update this page. Down Fire Construction Cut with V-groove and dado joinery on our ShopSabre routers from Langboard Elite 3/4 inch MDF, a dense 48.5 lb/ft³ board with a 200 psi internal bond and 410,000 psi MOE. Every panel joint is a machined interlocking groove that mechanically locks before adhesive is applied, which keeps the cabinet airtight under sustained pressure cycling. Corners are square on Down Fire cabinets. The cabinet measures 30 inches wide by 15 inches deep by 5.375 inches tall, measured in the down fire position. Feet ship with the enclosure but are not installed, so plan the space around where you intend to mount them. Square Baffle Cutout A 9 5/16 inch square opening machined to Kicker's published CNC template, with the corner radii the L7T basket expects. A round cutout would leave the corners of the cone unsupported. Double Baffle, Flush Recess The front baffle is 1.5 inches, two bonded 3/4 inch sheets, with the outer layer machined as a flush recess so the driver bolts to the inner layer. That recovers 3/4 inch of internal clearance. Side-Mounted Terminal Cup Proline X ABS and carbon fiber composite cup with stainless hardware and copper ring terminals, pre-wired in 12 gauge OFC. Side mounted so it stays accessible with the baffle facing the floor. What 51 Hz Means In A Vehicle The L7T 10 has a free-air resonance of 30.35 Hz, and a sealed enclosure always raises the system corner above the driver's own Fs. At 0.60 net that lands the anechoic F3 at 51.3 Hz, which reads high next to a shallow 12 on a spec sheet. That comparison is fair on a bench and misleading in a car. This cabinet fires down into the floor, so the sealed rolloff meets rising cabin gain below 60 Hz and in-car response extends well below the anechoic number. The L7T was designed to live under a seat at 3 3/4 inches of depth, and in that environment the large square cone and 14.2mm of excursion do the work that a bigger box would otherwise have to. Power and Wiring Kicker rates the L7T 10 at 500 watts RMS recommended amplifier power, with 1000 watts peak per ANSI/CTA-2031-A. Sensitivity is 85.98 dB by Kicker's published figure; their own Klippel measurement reports 85.645 dB characteristic SPL, so treat mid 85 as the working number. Available in Dual 2-Ohm (46L7T102) and Dual 4-Ohm (46L7T104). Both are dual voice coil, so final impedance is set at the driver.
