Meet Raelyn Raelyn’s journey is one of courage, resilience, and hope. Thank you for being part of her story and helping bring support, care, and encouragement to her and her family. How This Began In November 2024, Raelyn’s family began noticing unusual eye movements, followed by recurring headaches that would sometimes make her sick. What initially seemed minor quickly became more concerning. During an eye appointment, changes in her vision raised immediate concern, and her family was urged to seek urgent medical care. Diagnosis At the Children’s Hospital, doctors discovered a tumor about the size of a golf ball pressing on her optic nerve pathway and blocking the natural flow of spinal fluid. The tumor’s location made it too risky to remove, as surgery could result in permanent vision loss. Treatment Journey Raelyn underwent surgery to relieve the pressure and to biopsy the tumor, followed by the placement of a shunt to help drain fluid. In January 2025, she began chemotherapy and has since gone through multiple procedures, ongoing treatments, and many hospital visits. Through it all, she has shown incredible strength, continuing school with the support of her teachers and facing each challenge with resilience. Where She Is Now Raelyn has made meaningful progress, her tumor has reduced significantly, and her eyesight has stabilized. She is currently completing her final cycle of chemotherapy and will continue to be closely monitored moving forward. She is also looking ahead to brighter moments, including having her port removed and enjoying a special Make-A-Wish trip to Hawaii.
