Fission is sourced primarily from the historic Alta Vista Vineyard in the Moon Mountain District — a steep, dry-farmed site planted in 1971 on fractured volcanic soils high in the Mayacamas mountains. The 2021 vintage shows classic mountain Cabernet character: intense dark fruit, savoury herbs, graphite and wild forest notes balanced by freshness and beautifully defined structure. There’s richness here, certainly, but also tension and restraint — the sort of balance that makes you keep going back for another sip rather than feeling overwhelmed after one glass.
