Spin your yarn stash! Instant Gratification and Stash Busting/Refreshment Instructor: Ikumi Kayama Do you have yarn in your stash that needs refreshing? Buying yarn is the fun part. It’s full of potential. Then life happens. The yarn sits in your stash, looking at you from time to time. Let’s give it a glow-up! This is a hands-on class where students bring their own yarn (or purchase new yarn) and disassemble/reassemble it to give it another life. Yarn can be short, long, bulky, fine…anything works! Do you have yarn that is too splitty? Do you have yarn that pills when you look at it? Give it more twist so it holds better. Do you notice that the yarn untwists as you work? Spin it in a different direction! Is the yarn too thin? Ply the strands together! Do you want more pizzazz? Add some glitz and beads! We will reassemble your stashed yarn into different types of finished yarn. We will talk about how to add/remove twist using a drop spindle or a wheel. Prior experience: This class is for all fiber artists who have a yarn stash. If you are renting a shop wheel, must have some prior experience with spinning wheels. What to bring: -About 4 ounces from your yarn stash, your favorite spinning tool—spindle or wheel (all types welcome, and you can borrow a wheel from the store. Just contact us beforehand) -yarn should be wound to center pull-balls. -a bowl (to contain your yarn and thread) -scissors -scrap cotton yarn Provided by store: Cotton sewing thread (a few colors and values), seed beads (I like 6/0 and 8/0 in any color), needle to thread beads ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Illness protocol: Please do not attend class if you are not feeling well or have been exposed to an illness. Refund policy: Refunds or rescheduling are not possible for no-shows or cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice. Minimum registration: At least 3 registrations needed one week prior to class for the class to run.
