The Defender is designed for protecting your bees at the hive if under sustained predation pressure. This will usually happen in late summer (August - October, and is worsened if there are nests in the immediate vicinity (typically up to 700m away). The Defender has all the zero-bycatch credentials of the Gard’Apis Sentinel in that it uses the same cone and nozzle to prevent the entrance of the larger European hornet.
