Antique English Wicker Baker's Basket
A substantial antique wicker baker’s basket with wonderful scale, warm honey-brown tones, and the kind of texture that instantly adds character to a space. Originally used for transporting or storing baked goods, baskets like this were practical workhorses in European kitchens and bakeries in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This piece features a hinged lid, sturdy woven side handles, and a removable interior tray that rests above the base compartment. Beautiful styled on a kitchen island, tucked beneath a console, or used for blanket, toy, or pantry storage in a layered collected home. One interior dowel that holds the tray has loosened with time, and may need to be repositioned on occassion. Also, the lid has a slight warp and does not sit perfectly flush. 25" wide, 17" deep, 13.5" tall. Sourced in England.
