Creamed Honey Seed
Creamed honey seed — sometimes called starter honey — is honey that's been run through a creaming machine until the crystals are ground down to a fine, even micro-crystal structure. Mixed into liquid honey at the right ratio, those micro-crystals give every part of the batch something to crystallize around, so the whole thing sets up smooth instead of grainy. Many beekeepers make their own seed honey by grinding old crystallized honey with a mortar and pestle, or by saving whatever crystals happen to be sitting in a jar. That works, but the crystal size ends up inconsistent and you don't really know what you're seeding with. This starts from our own wildflower honey, run through the same creaming machine we use for our retail creamed honey line, so every batch of seed you get has the same fine, known crystal structure — not a guess. One thing to plan around: the fine crystal structure only holds up if you keep it cold. Store this refrigerated and out of heat before you use it — if it sits somewhere warm, the micro-crystals can coarsen or melt, and you lose the head start over grinding your own. And to be clear, this is the seed only, not a finished product — you'll still need your own liquid honey on hand to mix it into. Key Features Micro-crystal texture — ground fine and even by machine, not the uneven crystal size you get from a mortar and pestle Known starting honey — made from our own wildflower honey, not random saved crystals of unknown age Fast results — mix at our recommended 10% ratio and expect finished creamed honey in as little as 48 hours Unflavored — a clean base whether you're making plain creamed honey or adding your own flavor after Food-grade pail packaging — sized for real production runs, not single jars Three bulk sizes — 5 lb and 10 lb for a smaller batch, 20 lb if you're seeding honey at scale How To Use It Mix at a 10% seed to 90% liquid honey ratio by weight — for example, 1 lb of this seed honey to 9 lb of your liquid honey. Blend thoroughly so the micro-crystals distribute evenly through the batch, then keep it cool while it sets. Expect finished creamed honey in as little as 48 hours. Storage Keep refrigerated for best results, and keep it out of heat. The fine crystal structure is the whole point of this product — if it sits somewhere warm before you use it, the crystals can coarsen or melt, and you'll lose the head start over grinding your own seed.
